TR3 project up-date

Rolling chassis is now back on the ground, also I finally had the time to build my body rotisserie this weekend. Next step is to finish welding those floors and sills from the bottom, much easier once on the rotisserie, then blast and paint.

Nice work Greg! ... That chassis is a work of art. I like the red axle and blue springs!

Love to see those 3's come to life. Seeing such a sanitary frame and suspension is as exciting as a completed car. I spend as much time under my 3 cleaning as the top side.
Looks like you've done a solid job of rustproofing too.

Good eye Nick. This is a "Beta" Project of sorts. Halfway into installing new inner sills and new floors I realized I needed to source a rebuildable frame. I wanted to switch to a rack anyways so when I read about the 2 factory TR3 betas and found a TR4 frame and axle for $150, I was convinced to give it a try.

The fenders have me a bit scared, but I am sure I'll muddle through it.

It is more of a whole car conversion than just the rack. The benifit of the TR4 frame swap comes with wider track front and rear, stiffer frame, and the rack. Drawback is I have to to either widen the tub by or fenders by same ammount. I will do the fenders. According to Roger Williams, on the 2 prototypes the factory widened the fenders.

I sent you a PM but you may have not seen it. My body guy and I are interested in how you mounted the body to the rotisserie and where on the body. We are getting to the point that one would come in very handy. You can find my email under my profile. More pictures would be great also.
