TR2/3/3A TR3 pipe leaking [housing to heater]

I got the milled head and new headgasket back on and everything back together on the TR3. I figured I probably did something wrong and thing wouldn't start, but it did!!! YEAH!!!

But I noticed coolant again hitting the ground! Where was it coming from -- looked like the same place as before.

Turns out the metal heater pipe from the outlet housing to the heater has a pin-hole leak!!!

I looked in Moss, and they only sell a stainless steel one. Anyone have a source for the original (which hopefully won't be $60!)

I did one with a stupid tent post. Heated it, bent it and put a copper plumbing nipple at the end. Works fine for maybe $3.

Good luck.

You're talking about the pipe than runs along the left side of the block just below the head?

If so, I seem to recall seeing some folks replace the (steel) pipe with copper, possibly reusing the old fitting that threads into the H2O pump housing.

Work hardening is always a concern when using copper in an application that did not originally have it, but with that pipe bolted to the side of the block perhaps that is not an issue.

Yes, Geo, that's the one.

I think I'm simply going to make one. I just can't stomach paying $60 for something that is so simple to make.
