TR2/3/3A TR3 overdrive switch

I'm in the process of swapping out a TR4 (or 4A not sure) tranny in the 3 for TR6 overdrive. While searching the forum archives I came across a previous discussion of the switch. It was noted there, and I have noticed on others cars as well, that the word overdrive should be facing the wheel. I found that my dash already had the hole available and also noted it's "D" shape. This of course corresponds to the D shape of the switch shaft. However, when mounting the swith, the word overdrive faces out and not in. Is this something that can be changed by taking the switch apart? In all honesty, as originality is secondary to function for me, I'm tempted to leave well enough alone. I assume this would mean that switch up for on and down for off. Thoughts?
 
I have 2 switches, and both are the same with flat on the bottom. The hole in the dash also has the flat on the bottom. So, when mounted the switch is upright as it should be, but the lettering is to the outside.
 
I don't know if they are all that way; but on both what I believe to be the original switch from TS39781LO, and the repro I bought from TRF a few years back, the switch can be wired either way. I forget offhand, it may have required a little work with the Dremel to rotate the barrel, but if so, it was easy and hidden from view once it was assembled.

TS39781LO had apparently already been modified when I got it, so that up was on. After driving that way for 20 years, I decided to keep it when I replaced the switch (while moving the OD to TS13571L). The mod was easy, just remove the three screws to split the case, move one wire to the other terminal, and reassemble the case. There was a piece of insulation that fell out, but it was easy enough to put back and locked in place once the case was back together.
