Hey guys,

I recently entered my 59' TR3 in the New York Times “Collectible Car of the Year” contest. There were over 900 cars entered, and somehow I made the final 30 cut! I’m up against some pretty cool cars- Ferrari's, Jaguars, even a Chevy blazer.

I’m not actually sure what I would win if I get the most votes, but every time you vote, you’ll entered for a chance to win a pair of tickets to see the NY Auto Show. That could be cool I guess...

Check it out:

Mine is titled “A Triumph In Black”

Let's turn out the vote for Triumphs! Please vote for my TR3!

Cheers,
Gavin

Hopefully a subscription to the New York Post or Daily News. Anything but the New York Times.

You've got my vote. Good luck!

Re: TR3 on NYtimes Collectible Car of the Year Con

Good luck with your TR!

I wonder what the judges' criteria are? These kinds of contests are unavoidably subjective, which would seem to favor American cars.

I'll bet a 60's muscle car wins it. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif

wow- yours is clearly in better shape than mine! I have no idea what the criteria to reach the finals was.

Nice ride!

The first round was up to the Times' staff. This round is up to user votes.

Because I'd rather read joke news in the Post or Daily?? I'll take the Times, thank you.

I'm sure the contest is some liberal conspiracy, right?

No, actually it's your conspiracy to stuff the ballot box in that contest. RIGHT?
How ironic that you want to cheat in a contest in a paper that you believe prints honest news. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/lol.gif

I'm "cheating" because I'm asking fellow TR owners to vote for a Triumph?

Whatever man. I don't understand why me posting about a TR in a certain newspaper has to prompt you to turn this thread into a political flame war.

That's really weak in my book. Go hate on something else.

I never mentioned politics.
I mentioned cheating.
Wouldn't you like to know if NYT readers honestly thought you had the best car in the contest? I would.
Why have these contests if people are going to cheat?
I don't hate you, I don't know you. I don't like cheaters.

Sorry

Ok, I'm missing something here ... why does it matter if the sample group was "NYT readers" who felt motivated to vote or simply whoever felt motivated to vote ?

Besides, how could someone vote without reading at least a few words from the NYT web site ? Wouldn't that make them a NYT reader ?

Furthermore, I see nothing on the website requiring one to read anything in order to vote, only that "you must be a 'share and view' gallery member", which presumably anyone who voted is. Last I heard, playing by the rules was not cheating ...
