TR3 M/C Blanking Plate: Need some info.

Howdy Folks,

I`ve noticed something that I did`nt even consider or think about until I got my `57TR3 Small Mouth back with the Engine Bay Finished.

Mine has a "Blanking Plate" on the RH side where the M/C & B/C would be mounted if It were a RH drive.

I`ve looked thru Bill Piggotts book & I see "2" kinds of Blanking Plates. One is simply a "Flat" pcs. of sheet metal (Thats what mine is) & there is also one shown with a slightly "Raised Panel" that goes around the entire Plate with a good size "Radii" Inside corners (Mine are just square cut). Which would be correct for a `57TR3 Small Mouth TS21162L?

Thanx Much,

Russ

Re: TR3 M/C Blanking Plate: Need some info.

Hi Russ.

There are two types of blanking plates used. See below. The top plate which had a plain cut edge was used on the TR2 and TR3. The other had a dished out center with a rolled radius, and was used on the early TR3A's.

Regards,

Frank
