TR2/3/3A TR3 lever shock upgrade?

I've heard that the TR3 lever shocks can be made stiffer for racing by changing the valve seal to a motorcycle seal(Harley?). Anyone have any info on the type of seal or whether it's a DIY job or whether it would improve cornering at the cost of making the ride more like a buckboard than it already is.

I have no idea about the Harley seal but to stiffen the shock you can do two things:

- use stiffer oil
- use a stiffer valve spring

both will work but the spring will do it more efficiently.

Stiffer shocks at the rear might induce oversteer.

Cheers

As once happened to my brother in-law,he found that 90wt will make them quite a lot stiffer. So much so in fact, that the bolts will shear off or the shocks break off their mounts. The net result was VERY bad.
Motorcycle fork oil is the bomb.20wt is a great place to start. If you dont really care if you come home with kidneys, go to 30wt....

i run in my race car a mixture if EP 320 and EP 680 oil.
I never found any trouble with the bolts. I check them every 2nd event and especially after a run on the Nordschleife.
My shocks are so stiff that you can't move them by hand, you need a long lever.

Cheers
