TR2/3/3A TR3 leaf spring maintenance

I seem to remember reading something about 15 years ago, but I can't remember where. It said that when doing an oil change, save the drain oil and paint it on the leaf springs to keep them quiet and free to move. Does anyone do this, or am I just dreaming?

Not dreaming; it's in the owner's manual.

<span style="font-family: 'Courier New'"><span style="font-size: 14pt">REAR ROAD SPRINGS</span>
The spring blades should be painted over with old rear axle or engine oil,
particularly around the blade tips and clips.

Rubber bushes are fitted in all the rear spring eyes and must not be lubricated. </span>

I oil mine too. But with new oil not that new is better in this case. Oil help the leaves move in concert without binding. Heavy paint on leaf springs is a no-no.

Aloha Stig,

I have read that also, probably in the owners handbook. I've done it once or twice.
