TR2/3/3A TR3 Interior Question:

Howdy Folks,

I`ll be insatlling my Interior I purchased from "2 Tall Custom Interiors" soon. Eric (Owner) did an "Outstanding" job with everything. I could not recommend him high enough for your TR3, TR3A Interior. His "Foam Kit" (Which he installed for me) is just Great.

Anyways; I`ll be installing the back pcs. shortly and simply need to know (Pics would be great) about how those "Tacking Strips" look installed.

My Question is this: When Installed, are they installed "Over or Under" the seat covering? Meaning; When the Seat Cover is in place; Do you physically see the Tacking Strip?

Thanx in advance,

Russ

Hi Russ.
If I understand your question correctly, those strips are not visible when complete. Here are a couple of pictures I took this week while taking my seats apart (from my 56). Hope this helps.

In a related question, I thought the panels in my seats should have been vertical not horizontal. Believe these are the original seats. At what VIN did the changeover happen?

Cheers, Mike

Hey, Mike -

If your car is a '56, the seats should have vertical pleats. Also, the seat back is thinner on the TR2 and TR3. Changeover to what you have came with the 3A, I believe.

Seat Upholstery - Both leather and vinyl trim was available on the cars, first as an option, then as standard. On
the seats, only the seat facings were trimmed in leather, the rest of the seat upholstery being vinyl. In TR2s,
neither seat folds forward. In later cars, the passenger's seat was hinged to fold forward, the driver's was not;
this change was made at TS8637 when the gas tank was made smaller allowing room for an occasional seat
1. Seat Upholstery Pattern - There were two major patterns of seat upholstery, with TS 22013 being the
changeover point. AT TS 8637 (?) the front of the cushion was changed from a sloping or bevelled shape
to a vertical one, and there may have been some changes to the internal assembly of the seat which is not
noticeable.

Russ,

Check my old TR3 seat page; it has some details on the wood strips.

Howdy Folks,

"Thanx" to all for your replies. Its as I had remembered when I removed my seat covers to find the "Wood Strip" behind the Seat Covers but simply was`nt sure.

Peter, Your pics were great & gave me the "Definitive" answer.

By the way Folks, "2 Tall Custom Interiors" is where I purchased my "Entire Kit" from. Eric (Owner) owns a TR3A & is a Super Nice Guy & his work is "Outstanding" & "Reasonable".

Thanx Again,

Russ
