TR2/3/3A TR3 inside the tires track dimension

I’m going to be moving my TR3 back home from my place in Canada that I’ve sold with a rented Penske or Uhaul trailer, I just moved the GT6 using a uhaul trailer, the gt6 is said to have a 49” track and it juuuust fit the inside rail kickups on the uhaul trailer bed.

The TR3 track though from my investigating is less though, 45” Which means it won’t fit.

The Penske trailer spec is said to be ”42 inside the tires” I.e. the inner kick. Will the TR3 fit on it? I’ve got regular sized tires on wire wheels. What say you all? Anybody care to attempt an actual measurement? My problem is I am 400 miles from the car and can’t check it myself until I show up with trailer in tow. Thanks in advance,

I have had a TR3A on a U-Haul trailer. It is tight but it fits. It is 42" tread pattern to tread pattern. I was going to a car show as a work in progress to show what goes into a restore project.

Wow I wouldn’t have believed it unless I saw it. U-Haul is soo much easier for me and definitely my preferred

I assume with wire wheels there’d be no change ?

The tires were rubbing on the inside edges of the rails. We winched it on as the engine was not running at that time. Wire wheels may be a little wider. There are spacers on the wire wheel hubs. Not having wire wheels I can not be sure.

Our local Uhaul dealer would not rent a trailer to haul a Triumph.
Triumphs were not on the home office approved car list for their trailers.
So.... I went back the next day.... and found they would rent a trailer to haul a VW.
Problem solved. Very tight but our TR3 went on just fine.
