True, a richer profile needle is sometimes needed to complement the higher rpm range of the cam. A tuned exhaust header and recurved distributor is also recommended to complete.

Hi Peter I have the exhaust header. I'm running the Petronix. Could you expand on what you mean by recurved distributor? I've been meaning to buy the book you recommended. How can I be sure the timing is dead on for the mods I've done? Karl

If you google "teglerizer" you will find an excellent site put together by Paul Tegler, including a comprehensive needle chart.
Spend a couple ofhours there, and plot graphs of some likely candidates and you will be able to make a well informed decision.
If the car is in a mild state of tune,mild cam only or little else,I have found SM needles work well.
