TR3 Fast Road Cam and "RL" SU needles

I read somewhere that, for the TR3, when going to a fast road cam or mild street cam that engine performance would benefit by switching the SU needles to RL (richer). Anybody heard this?

Hi Peter I have the exhaust header. I'm running the Petronix. Could you expand on what you mean by recurved distributor? I've been meaning to buy the book you recommended. How can I be sure the timing is dead on for the mods I've done? Karl

You'll want to have your distributer advance re-curved to get more spark advance in at a lower RPM to take advantage of the cam change.

If you google "teglerizer" you will find an excellent site put together by Paul Tegler, including a comprehensive needle chart.
Spend a couple ofhours there, and plot graphs of some likely candidates and you will be able to make a well informed decision.
If the car is in a mild state of tune, mild cam only or little else,I have found SM needles work well.
Simon.
