TR2/3/3A TR3 Engines on eBay -- Scam?...

Sure looks to be the same engine to me. The valve cover cap looks to be painted the same as well. If interested, I would challenge the seller with 100% positive feedback. The other seller has no feedback.

One could always ask "koorc10" what the engine and gearbox serial numbers are (to see how much of the other ad he "copied" if that's what happened). /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif On the other hand, "deano7439" says he'll end the auction at the first bid, which seems a bit odd as well...

I looked again and almost convinced myself that there could be someone in Mass. rebuilding TRactor engines and painting them that color (well he would at least know it was one of his if he saw it again) but then I noticed...

The similarities in the roll-around stands the engines are sitting on...

The white 1x6 board beneath the front of the oil pan in each pic...

...now I am convinced. Will send a message to 'Deano7439' as I believe he is on the up-and-up (may have bought from him myself).

Okay, I just did that (Andy, you are devious). I looked at 'Deano's' feedback and recognized several eBay IDs I have seen on other Triumph stuff (probably got outbid by them is why I remember 'em) so I do think he is the one who really has the item.

Although they clearly have more modern components, the block color is very similar to the original block color on the 2.0 l Triumph Roadster (48-49) and Triumph 2000 saloon. I'm using buick green as the closest color to the original on my '49 TR.

PS
They are the same motor as there is a lifting strap in the same location in each picture.

thank you, did not realize my partner put it on also. yes you're right. thanks deano

Though both listings are still on there.

Partner yeah right..... Both should be removed. Typical ebay scammers....

I did report it to eBay and got a very nice condescending email from them explaining (about like I would explain it to a 4-year-old or maybe a 94-year-old) their confidentialty policies, use of images policies, etc.

A form letter that seemed to assume I was merely curious or perhaps confused about these topics.

To me it looks like everything was painted in the oil cannister green except for the cannister.

There have been several listings for ebay parts from both Hingham and Norwell Mass in the last several months. Seems to be legit sellers although the name on that first seller is new to me.

Wasn't Norwell the place that had those two parts TR3's last October that were offered at $500 for the pair here on the board?
