Ah, you mean <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Code:</div><div class="ubbcode-body ubbcode-pre" ><pre>&nbsp</pre>[/QUOTE]Lotta work, but thanks for the tip. BTW, it appears that Basil does not have tables/columns enabled. However, spaces work as expected inside a code block. So you can do something like:
<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Code:</div><div class="ubbcode-body ubbcode-pre" ><pre>
Column1 Column2 Column3
Fred George Henry
</pre>[/QUOTE]

Hi Randall -

You can get bbcode to show blank spaces by using the bbcode symbol for a blank space. It's one of those hidden characters which begins with an ampersand (shift 7).

Type in: ampersand n b s p semicolon (no spaces)

Give it a try. Worked for me. The next line is ten blank spaces between quotes:

""

Onward through the fog.

Ah ha! Thanks for sharing that Tom! The fact that spaces get killed is something that has always bugged me about this software. The apersand n b s p thing is the ASCII way of saying "No Break Space" which, when viewed in HTML, also prevents extra spaces from disappearing! I never thought of using that for extra spaces, but it makes sense that it would work. For anyone interested, here is more than you probably want to know: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-breaking_space

Frankly, I don't know why they didn't design the editor to just add those automatically when extra spaces are present in a post. Maybe I'll recommend that to the developer of the forum SW for their next version.

Wow, you guys are teaching me about my own forum! I think I will post this as a tip in the Forum Help forum! I honestly didn't realize that spaces don't get ignored inside the code box. Ten years I've been running this place and I'm still learning!
