TR2/3/3A TR3 Door Parts

My 61 TR3A doors are hollow, and sound that way when you close them. I seem to remember that these cars have wooden support pieces on the inside of the doors. Since mine doesn't have them, and I've seen them in the MOSS catalog but they are unavailable, does anyone have their measurements and I'll make my own?

Andrew is right. The pre-60000 had the wood frame. I don't see any way to add it to the later doors other than swapping an entire door.
The doors are never going to sound like a Benz door. I like how they sound so delicate when you close them...personal thing I guess.
 
Thanks guys, that saves me a bunch of wood work. I guess I can go back to finding out why the differential cover leaks. Put on a new gasket and checked the torque on each bolt, still leaks. Anyone use form-a-gasket?

shouldn't have to use much gasket cement unless the PO over torqued the cover and warped it. Try Permatex Aviation FormAGasket #2. It will seal and is non hardening. I used to use it to see old VW split crankcases 40 years ago!
 
Take the cover off and put it face down onto a flat plate. Use a feeler gauge around the perimeter and I bet you will find a high spot. There are a lot of ways to bend a diff cover over the years,.
The nice thing is that once you find the high spot you can put it across a gap between a couple boards and give it a few hits with a hammer to push it down some. Gently though, don't make like Hulk Hogan on it.
 
Another trick is that if the cover has been over-torqued, the bolt holes can get warped so that the area right around the holes touch before the rest of the surface.
To fix that, turn the cover over so the inside is up, set the bolt hole on the flange over top of a socket that is a bit larger diameter than the hole. then use the round end of a ball-peen hammer to tap the holes EVER SO SLIGHTLY concave (so when you put the cover in place they will be sticking back out at you).
Then when you reinstall the cover the bolts will be sure to provide good clamping force on the flange.
Works on valve covers and oil pans as well
