TR2/3/3A TR3 Dist points plate hold down screw size?

Anyone know the size or thread type of this screw? I'm building a back up plate incase my Petronix fails and I'm missing the screw. Haven't had any problems with it for the last 3 years though.

That is the screw that holds down the points. I Also measured the two screws that hold down the plate. It's around .137 in. at aprox. 38 tpi. I've never come across a screw this size. I know they have a 6-32 and 6-40, but it didn't match up to the tpi gauge. Maybe someone else has more input.

I'm pretty sure it's a BA (British Association) thread. Probably 4 BA, according to both my (increasingly feeble) memory and Bill's measurements above. 4 BA would be a "nominal" .1417" in diameter (but the actual threads always measure slightly smaller) and 38.5 tpi.

Nearly all of the Lucas components on a TR3 used BA or BSF threads.

pm me if you are talking about the screws that mount the plate to the housing. The two cross-head screws are weird, but I found a pack some time back that are slightly too long. I have a few left over and I'd be glad to send you some. I don't even remember if I had to shorten them of use them as is, but know I replaced them in the tr6 and tr3.

I'm looking at #6-40 x 5/8 -they may not be exact, but they work.
 
It's the adjustment plate hold down screw that I need.Thanks for the offer Texasknucklehead but I found a 3/16-32 that I think will work if I can cut it down a bit.

A little late in replying, sorry...but if its a 3/16"-32 you need, it would probably be a 2 BA thread, not a 4 BA.

2BA = .1850" and 31.56 TPI

We have lots to choose from.
