TR2/3/3A TR3 Crank Dog Bolt & Double Wire Clamp Question

My dog bolt ears stand proud of the fan only about 1/4". Is that about right or did I miss something in the final assembly? Right now I have no clue where the crank is, might be in the attic so I have no immediate way to look at it.

I just spent a fruitless hour on the net trying to find a source of supply for the double wire clamps used on the TR3's. Does anyone know of a reliable and reasonable source for them?

Thanks, Tinkerman

Aloha Tinkerman,

I suspect that the crank will work fine since the part that engages the dog bold is no larger in over all diameter then the bolt. If the fan fits over the bolt, the crank will pass through it.

I believe you can get the original type hose clips (clamps) from Moss, the catalog describes them as the original type. TRF may also have them.

The ones from Moss (and likely the ones from TRF) are very similar to the originals -- the main difference I've seen is that replacements have a hex-head on the screw whereas the originals have a round-head screw.

The hex-head does make tightening easier but then most who choose to use these (like me) are willing to do things the hard way for an original look.

I imagine that round-head screws could be easily sourced to replace those that come with the clamps. Maybe this is the year I will do that.

I like the original clamps -- when you drag the back of your hand across the end of one of tose 'cheese grater' clamps you get a nasty rash-lke scrape. The original wire clamps make a neat pair of parallel cuts which is just as bloody but more aestheically pleasing.

Sounds right to me. The crank does not engage with the outside, so it would still work even with the bolt ears down inside a hole.<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:]I just spent a fruitless hour on the net trying to find a source of supply for the double wire clamps used on the TR3's. You'll need (8) CS4012 for all the heater hoses (if fitted); (6) CS4027 for all the radiator hoses; and (2) CS4017 for the bypass hose.

And at least the ones I've seen at shows have the proper round heads on the bolts.

Thanks Randall, they are now on order.

Thanks all of you for your input.

You are a real TR man, Geo. I salute you. Here's a band-aid...
