TR2/3/3A TR3 clutch pressure problem - not a broken spring!

Last week, I posted that the pressure in my clutch would not release. It was the concensus of this group that I had broken spring. I took it apart and discovered that the spring was fine. It turns out that the problem was the spacer at the end of the internal components. It is part 30 in the diagram.

The "legs" of this part are now flush with the end of the plunger. Because of this, the plunger cannot retract and the fluid is not releasing back into the brake fluid reservoir. All of the pictures I have seen shown the spacer extending beyond the end of the plunger.

I see Moss has a part number for this item, but it is not available. Other than ordering a new master Cylinder, are these available anywhere? Does anyone have an extra? I see BP Northwest has a kit with one, but it specifies it is for a TR4, but I am assuming that it should also work for the TR3. Does anyone know if this would be compatible. It has the same internal 3/4" dimension as the TR3.

Thanks for your help.

Sammy, that should work, but I have a few somewhere. Give me a measurement or two and I will look one out for you. If you have a new kit in yours, this will save you some time and a bit of money. On the other hand, if you don't have a new kit, you should change it out for the new stuff.

Sammmy,I looked at my original 59tr3 guts and the cage for non return valve has 3 legs, metal, and doesnt look like yours. Also critical besides same bore is same lenght from bottom of bore to snap ring.
However, looking at your pic,it looks like the legs on yours are longer than width of NR valve rubber ,so I would think retracted against spring washer and bottom of cage(open),you would have clearance.Maybe the rubber is not fully attached to rod?
Anyway if you want some original guts, send me a pm.

:iagree:
Your photo of that part doesn't look anything like mine. I would guess that means that your cylinder has already been replaced once, with a lesser quality reproduction cylinder.

Fool me once, shame on you ... if it is already the wrong part, I would be tempted to replace the whole cylinder "just because".
