I have purchased a couple of carpet kits over the years and have been disappointed. I am going to try and make my own and was wondering just how well they actually fit when new. When I look at Piggott’s book, the carpet does not appear to have much overlap onto the other piece or up the side. They seem to follow the right angles exact whereas the carpet kits I have purchased in the past overlap and travel up the vertical sides considerably. This not a big deal to me, but as a hobbyist and purist, among other things, I like to replicate as best I can.

Steve, I would like to know more about your complaint. Can you say more about the kits vs. the dimensions of a correct fit? I already have a cheap but NIB kit for my car, though I was thinking about cutting a new one in a different color from bulk auto carpet. Using the kit as a template of course. Now would be the best time to know there is a difference.

Heck Don I saw that place when I was doing research, but I did not think it was is Washington State. Sorry to say I figured it was some jipo internet deal. After I looked a little closer, I would have probably bought a kit for 205.00. They look professional. My problem now is I commented myself to carpet order of 3 yards from my upholstery kinda friend. My last kit I got out of England and it was wool and pricey. They claim and maybe they are correct that the center piece is cut and sewn right down the center end to end. Moreover, the green carpet faded in one summer. It does have that patina look now. Anyway, I figured the only way for me to be happy is do it myself. If my buddy did not get the looped black I want I will probably go with internet guy.

I assume you're aware that originally, unlike the carpet supplied in most kits, the floor area in front of the seats was not carpeted at all, but rather had a rubber mat.

I wish they made carpets for the Wedge.
They should...sold more TR7's than any other model
 
Hi Geo I had heard that when I was reading something from the TRF, but was not totally convinced because of all the other evidence about kits. I would like to see a stock set up. I wonder what Don E. had new.

Only Charles has gone to the trouble of getting this long-unavailable part manufactured. I haven't got them but for a true concours effort they would be a must (worth 2 points in the judging manual).
