carb heat shield

Hey guys,

I bought one of these shields a while back from TRF. The instructions said that no modification were necessary, but it definitely looks like I will need to notch the shield to get it to fit.

Anyone have one installed that can post a pic? How about comments on how effective they are as well?

Cheers,
Gavin

The early design needed a notch at the front. Contact TRF or Joe Alexander https://www.the-vintage-racer.com/Products/default.asp for exchange or cutting info. Look at Joe's site and you can see the notch on the TR3 model.

I had problems with interference because the position of the accelerator pedal linkage arm was redrilled and rotated (by a PO) on the shaft beneath the battery. I also had to cut "the" notch for the front carb linkage. Also needed longer carb mounting studs on the intake.

I can measure and take a jpg if you need. It's still off the car (because of paragraph 2.)

BTW - There's a photo of Joe's Ambro project in the new Classic Motorsports.

I've got one too, and have been fiddling in that area recently. Mine seems to fit OK. Joe Alexander told me, in response to my inquiry, that the heat shield goes on AFTER (on top of) the thick insulating washer, in the stack of parts.

Hey Peter- Are you talking about the issue with the wedges on the cover??
