Can someone please tell me if these two bolts sticking out of the inner wings belong there?

Don't think so. Don't have them on either of mine.

Cheers,
Tush

Nothing like that on mine, don't think they are stock.

Thanks, I should have asked earlier so I could weld up the holes. Oh well, guess they'll get plugged during the next restoration, in 50 years or so!?!

Jeez, your car looks beautiful! Got more pics?

<span style="color: #003333"><span style="font-size: 11pt">When I did my Restoration on my 3A, I did what I thought was a complete "hole research" and in the end I had 3 holes un-accounted for (like you, after the paint)

I just found the right size rubber plugs and hoped the judges didn't catch it.

Be sure to figure a way to block those holes to your boot....road dirt & dust will get into your boot & cause havoc with all the neat things that you will be carrying around on your tours.

There was a very special, factory offered, luggage set that was built to just fit into the boot, perhaps your car came with this option?? I have only seen pics, but it may have had some fasteners.....

Good thought, but the fitted suitcase accessory for the trunk didn't have any tie downs and was a discontinued line after the TR2. Not to say a PO didn't acquire one, or something else, and fitted a hold down strap.

Those added bolts with ferrules are in the right position for one and the castellated nuts are of the era.

Could be anything of course.

The posts seemed so well placed and cleanly assembled that I assumed the whole time that they were supposed to be there. I was thinking they mist be ties for the sidescreens or something. Now that I'm down to the final assembly, I've had more time to study the little nit-noids, so I am catching things like wrong bolts and the like. My give away here was that the sleeves look like they were cut with a pipe cutter...so most likely homemade -although some PO took a lot of care to make them symetrical and even.

It's funny how you get pickier as the restoration goes on. When I took the car apart, all the tail lights looked good to me. I went to install them the other day and couldnt believe a year ago they looked good to me. Just ordered new ones...guess it's all perspective!

Thanks, all. For the good input...

John

Here's a pic after the hand wet sanding with 2000 grit, getting ready for the buffing

The bonnet, apron, and front fenders fit very well in the picture. You do very nice work.
