TR2/3/3A TR3/4: sway bar options [GM, Ford, Chrysler, etc]

Hi all,

I am going to be at a pick&pull salvage yard this weekend with a friend who is in need of some parts for his car.

While there I was hoping to find a sway bar for my TR4. I was wondering if anyone here knows of various late model GM, Chrysler or Ford (and others) models that used a front sway bar that could either directly fit or be slightly modified (ie- bent)to fit a Tr4.

I have a car with the early front suspension. I understand that I'd need to secure the proper mounting hardware on my own.

I am on a bit of a budget and thought I could keep this whole exercise in the $60-$90 range (incl. hdwe.). Car is torn apart in a multi-year restoration (rebuild phase)so taking my time to find the parts and put together is not of concern.

thanks- wpe

Take a look at rear sway bar on Ford Escort GT...it's pretty narrow and about 3/4".

Might find something on similar on rear of Mazda Protege "sport" models.

Check around for any TR6 owners that have upgraded their front bars and cast away the stock front bars. They would probably be happy to get rid of the old bar.
