TR5/TR250 TR250 Prototype

I'm not familiar with this car, but do know that Triumph would send over pre-production cars or cars with "next model" running gear if reasonably compatible with an existing body/frame to this country. If nothing else and you're not a totally unreasonable distance away, one could make a swing by for a look-see and have some BBQ at Louis Meuller's in Taylor TX. It wouldn't be a totally wasted trip no matter what you found out on the TR because you'd get to eat some pretty decent BBQ.*

* assuming things haven't changed too much since we moved from Fort Worth. We'd periodically load up and make a run to different BBQ places in that area and Muellers was one of the favorites. I see from looking at their website :smile:cowboy: don't know if that's a good or a bad thing) that they offer more stuff now including sandwiches. When we used to go there, you went to the counter and told them how many slices of brisket you wanted, how many ribs you wanted, etc and they would weight it since you were charged by the pound. If you wanted a sandwich, they had loafs of bread on the counter so you could grab a couple of slices and make your own.

I was more interested in the rally TR3 that he has but I'm going to pass. here is a link to his site www.classicstreet.com you can also see the TR250

Perused the guy's website, he has some interesting cars, would be interested to see what the documentaction is on the TR250/4A.

Yes, a somewhat incomplete story. I don't recall seeing any engines pics -- since the vehicle is RHD I would expect to see a 6 cylinder PI under there.

Agreed about wanting to see some engine pictures, but don't know that I would necessarily expect to find PI there. From stuff I've seen and been told, it was my understanding that the PI system was originally developed with the goal of meeting US emissions standards that were to initially kick in for 1968 in mind. However, they never could could get the system to meet the emission standards so went with the mild cam, vacuum retard and the CD175s instead. If what I've seen and been told has any merit, it could be either depending on where in the test mule program they happened to be with this car.

This car and the tr3 rally car turn up in conversations every couple of years. I've not visited the business but I know those cars have been advertised for over 5 years now.

The TR3 rally car does not even have the original body, does it have the original body tags installed on the replacement body? With the car completely disassembled how do you know what was correct or not.
