That was the price it went for on Ebay. It had black and chrome slats otherwise it looked like any other 4A grill. why so pricey?

Yes, I was a little surprised at that myself: grille

This grill does not have any hole on the bottom for a starter crank like I think is on a 4A, so you can't just turn a 4A grille into a 250 one.

Well, whether or not P.T. Barnum actually said it, "There's a sucker born every minute!"

Reminds me of a time years ago when one or two enterprising individuals managed to get three figures for used Lucas sealed beam headlamps on eBay. Suddenly, EVERYONE was selling them, and....

Wow, and it wasn't NOS even!

The main difference between the TR4A grille and the TR250 grille is that the TR250 grille removed the legacy half circle at the bottom center for the crank. Note that the TR4A didn't have a hole in the radiator so it wasn't functional there either.

Several people must have really wanted the correct grille for a TR250 restoration.

wow!
somebody really wanted that grille. 33 bids climbed to around $250, then jumped to $1500, then $2000.
at least shipping is ONLY $28...

Couldn't the crank hole from a TR4A grill be removed and the slats be fabricated by a skilled welder for way less? I agree with P T Barnum.

I'm definitely not an expert but I think it would be difficult as it's extruded aluminum which is then anodized.

Well, they are a bit hard to find but I didn't think they were THAT hard. I would think right about now Marv is taking a buffer wheel to the one he has.....

I think people sometimes get carried away bidding on what they think is a rare item. I remember theTR3 aluminum handbrake handle that got bid up to $300 and then they started turning up on ebay for $90 with nobody buying.

Ya wanna dance,ya gotta pay the band. Some people are tone deaf, though.
