TR2/3/3A TR2000/2500 gearbox on a TR3 ?

A friend of mine, not speaking english at all, is facing a difficulty that I would like to solve for him : has someone already managed to fit what seems to be a TR2000 / TR2500 gearbox, with OD (with a 1 inch diameter input shaft) on a TR3, as a replacement of a non OD gearbox (with a 1.25 inch input shaft) ? To do so, is it possible to fit a TS2000/2500 clutch plate in a TR3 clutch mechanism ? If not, as a more expensive alternative, would it be possible to fit a complete TR2000/2500 clutch assembly on the TR3 engine inertia wheel ?
