Moss shows them for $270...I'd say you got a good deal, especially because it's NOS.

The grills were originally made of pot metal with a chrome finish. Replacements I have seen are polished stainless and do not have the rich chromed look of the older ones.If you are happy with what you got and feel the price was fair, you got a good deal. As for what it is actually worth,it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

John, it would be interesting to discover which NOS TR2 grille you have.

TR2's had three different grilles. There was a chrome finish diecast Mazak grille p/n 800534, which was at some stage was substitued for a polished aluminium casting under the same part number. The third type was a polished sheet metal pressing p/n 554813.

The reasons for these various changes seem to have been lost in time.

There are a number of early TR2's under rebuild at present (a friend has started on TS166), whose owners might pay good money for a NOS item. I suppose an ebay listing is one way of finding out what the market thinks it's worth.

Regards,

Viv.

Somebody on ebay is trying to sell a NOS TR3 smallmouth grill for $1200.00. No idea what yours is worth, but I would not give it away.

Hi Viv. My car TS604L has the original die cast Mazak grill which I had rechromed during its restoration.
