Howdy Folks,

Somewhere, Someone posted something about the Rare "Feul Shut-Off" valve on a TR2/3 relative to how & where its mounted.

I have one on my car and its mounted onto a bracket on the Drivers Side (LH Drive).

Anyways; There`s one on ebay right now. Item # is: 350306760644: It looks to be in pretty nice shape. Check it out if your looking for one.

These are an easy re-build if your a handy man with an exacto knife.You take it apart and make two groves in the hard old cork just big enough to hold 2 O rings from an AC kit.lube it with silicone grease and re-assemble.takes ten minutes saves 40$......

Wouldn't bother unless it's for originality.

The push/pull cork seal tap is fairly primitive, and prone to suddenly start leaking. Then the garage can fill with fumes and become a potential disaster zone.

It's something to do with the quality of the cork in the repro items. Many will last but a few fail early.

A good set up is to remove the old tap and substitute a modern inline shut off valve, then an inline fuel filter, all downstream from the mechanical fuel pump.

Another fix is to substitute a short length of nitrile fuel line with the appropriate OD for the cork. It's worked great for me for over 20 years.

And the shutoff needs to be upstream from the pump, so the tank doesn't drain out while you are cleaning the sediment bowl (part of the annual tune-up).
