TR head castings?

I'm cleaning up Amos head a bit while the valve
cover gasket and sealant finishes curing. Using
TRBill's tried and true method.

( BYW Banjo- the one tapper got adjusted down a tad)

Underneath a lot of crud and grime, I am finding
several head casting numbers and at least one stamped
number. Do any of these numbers have significance as to
year of production? or what model TR they were cast for?

My engine block is a 1968 TR250. My tranny TR4A.
Intake manifold is maybe a 1971?
Curious to identify the head if possible.

Thanks,

d

Hi Dale,

The stamped numbers (indented) are the serial number of the head and would be made after the head is cast or in this case after it is machined.

The raised numbers are the numbers used to record the casting design run. They would have normally been attached to a surface on the "cope" that formed the top portion of the casting mold. They would have left their impression in the sand mold.

Example is from a mold set I designed. The casting numbers would have been on the blue part.
