Hi,

Does anyone have the factory spec for wobble & lift on a steel TR-6 wheel? I see 3/32" listed in the TR-2 / TR-3 Service Instruction Manual.

Thanks, RG

TR6 workshop manual gives .045" (about 3/64")

Hi Randall,

Thanks for checking. I picked up (4) TR-6 wheels at a junk yard and it looks like (3) are in spec. The forth has .06 for wobble, but its round. Its far better than what I have. I also found a shop that can balance the wheels using the bolt pattern, not the center hole.

I would think that there are wheel repair outfits in the Baltimore area. You might want to consider taking the wheel in and having it straightened. Any wheel place that knows what they are doing should have no problem getting a steel wheel that is out by ~.06" back to well within spec.

The downside is that straightening it may make it more likely to crack in the future. TR6 wheels are known to be prone to cracking.

Most wheel shops around here won't touch steel wheels any more. Too much risk of being held liable after a broken wheel kills someone.
