TR6 TR-6 Hazard Switch Dress Up Ideas

My 1970 frame off is complete except for seats, and the only part of the interior I'm unhappy with is the hazard switch. It is the black rocker type, with a red triangle in the center. I can get the black part of the switch to look good, but any ideas on how to get the red triangle back in once I paint it? I've tried very thin pin striping tape, and just red paint, both look fair at best. Anyone know if the triangle could be silkscreened back onto the plastic? I know this is pretty anal, but I'm still hoping someone out there has tried this with more success than I've had! It is unavailable new from any source. Thanks,

Mark

Mark, is the triangle engraved into the switch? (Our 69 has a clear hooters switch, your 70 has Lucas IIRC). When we last bought some Clear Hooters spares the seller suggested using an eyeliner pencil to restore the triangle. He said to use it to color in the groove, not worrying about the black plastic. Then, wipe lightly over the face with a damp cloth, taking up the extra while leaving the engraved part filled in. Let me know if this works (haven't had time to try it yet).

It was at one time grooved a bit, but now the groove has worn off to the point where it is barely there. I like your idea tho and I can maybe have someone recut that groove. You can still see a faint outline of the triangle. Thanks for the advice.

I asked my jeweler if his engraver could deepen the groove in the switch. He said it would be easy for him to do it, so I'm waiting to get it back and then I'll be using your eyebrow pencil idea.

Thanks,

Mark
