TR6 TR 6 Carpet Kit Installation Question

I'm finally getting around to installing this carpet kit I got from TRF. I've put in a layer of "FatMat", which is same sort of thing as DynaMat. Anyway, I've laid the underlayment kit on top of the FatMat. Should I use a spray adhesive to hold the underlayment in place? Or will the carpet kit hold the underlayment in place? Furthermore, would a spray adhesive even be effective on the foil type stuff that the FatMat is made with? It does'nt seem likely that anything will stick well to that foil.

Thanks in Advance,

Tom,
Whatever you do to secure your carpet, just make certain that you install the front floor mats in with snaps so that you can remove them easily and regularly. I made the fatal mistake of glueing my front mats in and left them too long. Moisture got to the floor boards and the dreaded rust monster grabbed ahold of my floorboards. Needless to say, they are now snapped in. As far as other areas being held in by the overlaying carpet, I think you will need a spot of spray adhesive here and there, especially over the plastic tunnel (you DO have a plastic tunnel, don't you?).

Yes, the gearbox cover is a plastic one. The drive shaft cover is still a cardboard one. I'm thinking about ordering a plastic cover for the drive shaft.

If you want to save a $ you can take the cardboard cover and paint it with a coat of fiber glass resine. And if necessary for strength, add a few layers of fiber glass. Makes it water tight and much stronger for a few cents.

Sorry to be a bit late replying, just noticed your post.
As advised above, I would not glue anything to the floors, carpet, underlay or fatmat, because you want to be able to remove it to dry out.
Aside from rusting the floors, these materials will rot.
I also think the heat reflection of the fatmat will be best if the foil side faces the source of heat rather than the inside of the car.
Simon.
