I can find nothing concerning the the fitment of planetary gears - I have a lot of clearance - I see where thrust washers of varying thickness are available - I don't have any idea how much to tighten the clearance - I see no size offering for the sun gears - Midnight

Aloha Midnight,

For the differential, there is a brief statement in the TR6 shop manual: 51.25.19.38. "Select and fit planet gear thrust washers as required to obtain zero backlash." I started with the same size TW that was in there, and ended with one size up. It's a backup and haven't used it yet. I expect clearance wears in on its own in use. Earlier TRs had the same diff innards; maybe some with actual solid axle TR experience will chime in at halftime.

Ad over - back to the Superbowl! Jeff

When I first read this post I thought Miles was talking about the overdrive...but diff makes sense too!?!
