Dick, Very nice job on the wiper motor, but I was looking at the progress on your restoration, also very nice. To change the subject just a bit I was wondering how you were going to finish the body work. Have you trial fit everything to the car already and painted the the doors fenders ect? I was thinking of painting the shell after I trial fit everything and attach it to the chassis. Then paint the inside of all the panels, and attach them to the shell. Then I would do all the block sanding to the outside and then spray. Being very carefull to mask off the rest of the car so there would be no overspray.

Tinkerman,

Your looking good. I'm right behind you on progress on my TR3. Have the tub painted and about to install on the frame. Like Keith, I plan to trial fit all the panels before I do any more painting. Going to do my first ever BLACK car. This car was originally black so I thought I would try it.

I have owned my 1958 TR3A from new. That's right. I'm the original owner. It came black and it will always be black. I've driven it 102,000 miles in the past 19 summers since I restored it.

Life is great ! My oncologist told me almost 5 years ago that I was in re-mission. Last month he told me I'm cured of bone marrow cancer.

Every day is a free day for me and driving the TR makes it even better. Saturday while I was 130 miles from home, I blew out the seams right down the center of the larger stainless steel muffler I bought and installed 19 years ago. Today, I got it out, paid $15.00 for a new piece of 20 gauge stainless steel and another $8.37 for new fiberglass to stuff in it and tomorrow, my neighbour will TIG weld it all back together. It's be done and installed, ready to go again by night-fall.

Re: the body work, the tub and all panels were on the body and fitted before anything happened. The tub was then braced and all the body panels were removed while the floors, sills and other items replaced or fixed. All the painting is finished. The various body parts are in storage in my shop and will be installed after the wiring harness and all of the under dash components are done and installed and the car is running.

I may have minor fitting to do but I would expect that. Anyhow that's whats the plan is.

Good on you, Don for beating the big "C"!

Cheers, Tinkerman
