Tr 3 Voltage regulator

Need some help...
1 I am rewiring my TR3 and I don't see were terminal E on the regulator is connected. The wiring diagrahm leaves things in mid air??
2
Polarizing the dynamo (negative ground) has not worked so far.
Used a lead from the + of the battery to touch the F of the dynamo briefly. Engine running and the other dynamo lead off.
Suggestions?

Mine has two wires on the E terminal, one runs through the harness to the back of the instrument panel, the other one is bolted to the body nearby. That little symbol with the 3 lines indicates a connection to the body/chassis.

So your car has been converted to negative ground? How do you know it "didn't work" ?

Bad idea to do that with the engine running and the other wire disconnected, IMO. With full field current and no load, it won't take a very high rpm for the generator output voltage to go high enough to possibly cause problems. There is no need to have the engine running while polarizing.

My less-than-perfect memory (understatement!!) tells me that the instructions I followed when I reversed mine years ago said to do the switch with the engine shut down.
 
I believe there are instructions also in Moss catalogs, in the electrical/ignition section.
 
On my '59 the ground connection to the body is along the edge of the battery box -- you can see it just to the right of the control box in this pic:

That seems to be typical, if not universally correct.
