TR-2 Parts getting Done!

My friend Mark at British Auto just gave me back my brake master/clutch master unit and is almost finished rebuilding my carbs and distributor. He does such excellent rebuild work..wish I had his shop, tools, and parts suppliers!! Small steps but we are making a bit of progress. He will be rebuilding the motor and OD transmission next while I'm stripping the chassis and admiring the body that hasn't moved off the dolly I put it on for 3 months now! All in good time I guess...

I still want another one of those.
There is a gorgeous small-mouth TR-3 for sale just down the street from us (at "High Marques Motor Werks, Morristown, NJ).
They are looking for about $35000 for it. If I didn't have two weddings to pay for (within 12 months), I'd have a serious look at it. I had a '58 TR-3 that I sold when I was about 20. It ran good and looked OK. Had a TR-4 engine and OD trans. I got a $100 for it and my Dad thought I ripped the guy off!. Funny how things change.
I have a shot at getting a reasonable TR-4 right now....am thinking about it.
G'luck with your's!

Mark,
Take a look at this one. Maybe it will help maintain your rabid enthusiasm.

I saw that and thought -

Someone wanted a 7?
Or just watched too many episodes of the prisoner?

Nice car though...

Nice TR2. I don't think that's the seat -- can't tell if it is a green-wrapped tire or his beach toy. The banner OTOH looks German.

Bill,
I think you're on to something. Looks like he won the German version of the Kentucky Derby and they gave him a gussied up horse collar as an award.

[/ QUOTE ]In this case, it's more like someone wanted to "pay homage" to the Factory Le Mans TR2s. For most of the years that Triumph fielded teams at Le Mans, each of the team cars, otherwise in BRG, would have a red or white or yellow "nose" (or possibly no color at all for a fourth car) to make it distinctive. This was seen right up through the 1964-65 Works Spitfires.

I stand (ok I'm sitting) corrected.
Still looks like it should be on a 7 to me though....

Too bad it's RHD.

What's wrong with RHD? I'm actually toying with the idea of converting my TR2 project over to RHD just to be different.
I used to get to drive a RHD Mini a lot. I really enjoyed it. It dosen't take as much "getting used to" as you'd think
The only visibility issue is when parallel parking and passing and in an open topped TR2 that's not really a big problem.

Having done the conversion from RHD to LHD by moving countries, I can attest to the fact that you also have to watch out for opening the door when you mean to change gear.

Don't worry though - you only do it a couple of times before the message sinks in...
