I girded my loins yesterday and drove up to Loudon NH for the 2013 "Tough Mudder" event. Tough Mudder events all over America raise funds for the Wounded Warrior project. Not exactly in prime physical condition, I was an officially registered spectator. Some of our OSV staff were participating, so I lent some support.

Parked at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and watched a few laps before the shuttle bus arrived. Then took a 30 minute bus ride up to Gunstock Mountain, the site of this Tough Mudder event.
Imagine a ten mile run up and down the ski slopes (it was 95 degrees), with two dozen interesting "obstacles" along the way. Obstacles such as electric eels, dumpsters full of ice water, four foot deep mud pits, 30 foot high rope ladders, swimming through narrow concrete conduits. You know, similar to removing the heater on an MGB.
The event is huge - must have been thousands of participants. I'd never been to something like this in my life. I'd imagine it's like one of today's rock concerts, but without the music. Have to admit this event was better organized than the Blood, Sweat and Tears concerts I remember from the 1960s.
The OSV team were succesful, and completed the course in just under four hours. Really had a great day.
