Just thought I'd check and see if all you boys in the south are OK.
Those tornadoes looked wicked, and I sure hope no one here was affected.
If anyone needs help, look for me and I'll do all I can.

Dave

Thanks, Dave.

Most of the really serious damage was west of us. Jackson, and Memphis, Tenn.; and Atkins, Ark. Bad stuff.

just a lot of rain and wind here.

I'm in Virginia and just saw it on the National News. Fifty-four confirmed deaths and over 70 tornadoes sighted. What a terrible loss of life, homes, schools, and businesses. Darn I thought those things only came in the Spring and Summer /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Common misconception, along with the notion that it's mainly rural areas and trailer parks that get hit. Clarksville was hit January 22, 1999. The church I serve, a downtown parish, Trinity Episcopal, was hit - story here, and a picture of the church the day after (3rd picture down is Trinity - along with the red brick parish house next door, which was destroyed):

The story says the roof was lost - but what happened was that it fell in on the building, destroying everything inside.

Last night was one of the worst storms the mid south has ever had. Thankfully, Clarksville was spared... this time.

Good to hear that you all weathered the storm! My thoughts and prayers were with those of you in harms way!!

Well, that answers the question I had in my PM...glad to hear you "made it through the storm" (to quote Barry Manelow)

Seems like the UK is on the tornado hit list here lately. Never heard of that before. Is this common there or just a recent fluke in the weather?

Glad you're OK Mickey.

I was in Texas once when a string of tornados passed
within sight distance. Hailballs the size of baseballs
did much damage and scared the devil out of me waiting it
out sitting in my metal roof motel. What a racket of noise.
