Hi Rut,
I haven't used this company, but another company I was looking at warns about tops being sold on craigs list. It is kind of a you get what you pay for warning
Here is their website. read through it a little bit and you will find the warning. I think they are telling the truth.
convertibletopguys.com/convertible/220/1958-61-Austin-Healey-Sprite

I have a top on my MGB from convertibletopguys (the link that 59diamond gave).

Nice product, well-made and decent price

As for the other craigslist link from Rut: seems almost too cheap to be any good. :rolleye:

The pics seem to show canvas tops, but the pricing, for the most part, is for vinyl tops. And, of course, the thickness and quality of the vinyl could vary from Hefty garbage bag thickness to a heavy-duty roof. I used the Robbins vinyl top through VB for my Sprite. 90% of the time, I'm driving top down, and the top only goes up if I'm parking the car somewhere or I get caught in the rain.

By the way, the convertible top on my 948-powered '73 Midget is a canvas top.

I bought it over 15 years ago for the car I am currently racing.
Since it was a nice top, I held onto it over the years. Some of the stitching for the rear windows has come out and I've made some unskilled repairs.
But overall, it's a nice top and very high quality.
The maker was Caribou Tops in California. Price was great but they were very, very slow in delivery and I have heard nightmare stories from others (here) about the company.
In any event, I'm pretty sure they're out of business.

Tom,
that's a great idea, but I don't know of anyone who does that outside the marine industry. Post back with your findings...I'll need a top this summer.
Rut

I have a good black top right now. The only reason I was looking at the company I mentioned is it seems that I could get a red top from them. Something I might do down the road.

Hey Bill if you find someone who offers red tops or tonneaus please let me know.

I know and the tonneau is beautiful. I thought that adding a red top would top off an already beautiful car. Nothing else to do to it since you did such a great job on everything else. Everyone with knowledge of BE´s has said that it is exceptional.

Convertible Top guys wanted $650 and Bugeye Guy wanted $400 so I went with the cheaper one. I didn't bother to check what brand it is. I will find out when it arrives. I am not going to use it that much, mostly for shows.

Shipping included? Let me know what it turns out to be. I have a source for good quality tops as well.

It is going to be $399.95 plus shipping. Whatever UPS ground will be. I would have had to pay shipping for the $650 RED TOP also.
What I need to know next is where to take it in the San Diego area to have the Fasteners installed and fitted to the car. The key car show that I want to take the car to is in April so I should have time to get that done.

Well, if you were up here, I could do it for you, but I'll ask around and see if I can scare up someone in San Diego.
