I'm seeking advice for my BT7. It's only had a tonneau for decades. Considering a new soft top or maybe a hard top.
Is it difficult to install and remove a hard top?
Which material is preferred for convertible tops?
Other considerations and opinions appreciated.
We have a limited driving season in Michigan.
Thanks.

I guess it all depends on how "dry" you want to be. A hardtop isn't that hard to put on and off, for a BT7, and you would be more comfortable in cooler weather, however, most enjoy the "top down". A good allweather top may provide both if installed well, make sure you get one with a zipper style back window.

I've had my BT7 for 47 years. The first 40 I had only a soft top. Pain to put up and down. Got in the habit of putting it on once in late fall and taking it off in the spring. Always noisy, drafty and leaky. Found a factory hardtop on ebay seven years ago. What an improvement. While it doesn't make the car a 'sedan', it is much quieter and less drafty and not as leaky. It also gives me a little more headroom, better visibility out the back and more light in the interior. Plus I've always liked the hardtop look. Not hard to install or remove but it's takes two people. The other issue is storage; it does take some room.
Since I live on the California coast, I am able to use the car all winter and the hardtop is a great way to go. It may not be that big a deal if you store your car in the winter.

:savewave: :iagree: The hardtops are great! A beautiful day here today for either top or none at all, eh Bob?
