There are NO modern paints that have gone back to the 70's and translated formulas.
I repeat NONE of the manufactures have done this. If you are a stickler for OE
simply go to a Collision repair center and have your color scanned by computer. If they
do not have the equipment call around, this scanner will identify the closest modern color.
There are no new colors!! Trust me even the old Triumph colors are alive and well if you can
find out what they are put on ten years.
Fun fact ,the red used on a 60 Mini is the exact same thing on a 91 Mx5 Miata. General motors
still uses Signal red(under their name).

Thanks much, I thought that may be the case. It’s interesting as the color in the trunk area appears significantly lighter than other non exposed areas. The best area to that I have found, I think, is beneath the wiper motor, unexposed and covered. My hope was there is someone out there who has had a similar problem with Topaz and could provide me with their info, trying to work smarter not harder I guess… Thanks

You must have an original ,unfaded swatch of paint. Usually the inner part of a door.
When you have it scanned, they will have a color and formula to give you in the
line of paint THEY carry. This can be translated to a brand you might have a preference
for. They run from cheap to very expensive. NEVER go cheap. Sikkens, SpiesHecker,Glasserit.
these are premium paints and you will get what you paid for.
