TOP GLASS

Does anyone have a rear top glass? I was thinking that someone has replaced their top and still has their old top laying around with a good glass in it. I have a decent top without the glass.

Andy,
Are you referring to the plastic rear window in the convertible top? If so, any place that does convertible tops should be able to put one in for you with no trouble.
But the 280i convertible didn't come with a glass rear window, only plastic.

They want $400.00. Thats why I was looking for a used one to hold me over for a couple of years until I get a new top.

Go get another estimate. My upholstery guy charges around $150 for a replacement window.

Now that's better. That's only petty larceny.

The cut plexi has to be only $30-40. No idea on installation cost. I agree $400 is entirely way to high.

Well unless you can do it yourself (or are willing to) that is only about 1.5-2hrs labor. Not bad IMHO.

I need to replace the rear window in the top of my 84 280i....the stitching simply came undone. I'll price it both ways.....to reinstall the existing window or to stitch a new one in it and let you know what I get charged. But that's probably a month away at this point. The car's still having mechanical and electrical work done at this stage.
