Top bows - plastic sleeve for socket

The top bows slip into a socket on my BT7. The restoration book says there is a plastic sleeve that fits around the lower 2-1/2" of the main bow that fits into the socket. I can't find anything in the Moss catalog. Is there a good inexpensive substitute for the original...whatever that was?
