You men. It has nothing to do with beating your best. It has to do with forgetting to wear a watch, turning the key, the sound of the engine firing, sliding through the gears, the wind in your face and your hair blowing, the bumps in the road and taking deep breaths to avoid hyperventilating from the utter exhilaration.

I'll take the long way around any day.

Being a mere male myself, I tend to side with PC's tongue-in-cheek post above.
BUT...if time were the bottom line, would we be driving little, somewhat underpowered british sportscars?

I second PCs comment that its a best time for a given course that counts. Discovering new courses is fun, cause you can always go back and try to go faster the next time.

Actually, I was thinking of my wife and 4 kids in our mini-van on our way to the beach, we left home 30 minutes ago and I have been asked 3 times "Are we there yet?" Last time it took 7 hours.
