My BE is devinitly the car I drive to enjoy. However, this weather thing in Kansas gets into the way of a lot of people who would enjoy their cars, but don't because it might rain. Yesterday there was a threat of showers, so I threw the tonneau in. When I got there, it looked more likely to rain, so the cover went on. There was an afternoon rain and all was well. This next week we are supposed to have some great weather for the enjoyment of our cars.

I was glancing thru a catalog the other day and was surprised by the prices as well. Especially compared to the prices for tops.

I had purchased one many years ago, since a top will not fit on BE with the roll bar. When you are ready to get one, maybe one of supporting vendors could help.

speaking of.... has anyone found the "stud" for the passenger side of the mirror? source?
 
It is just a standard lift a dot, almost any boat store or top shop.
 
Jack to the rescue again! I have a few that I bought through the usuall. This one just has longer threads I suspect?
 
Threads not a problem when it is under the dash, use what you got.
 
Oh yea forgot, put a small clear plastic washer under the lift a dot, saves the paint.
 
My tonneau was one that came with the car. Several years ago I took it to the upolstery shop and had it resown, and a new zipper installed. So it is a faded red that was a used item when I got the car 25 yrs ago. If you think about getting a new one consider a short tonneau that attaches just behind the surround strip. Mine attaches to the top attachments and I worry about it wearing against the paint.
 
Here is a shot of mine attaches around the roll bar, just in case anyone is interested.

I have to get mine fitted before the rest of it goes in for paint. I like the idea of the shorter cover. How does it fit?

kc...I likewise have the original leather but awhile back I went to pick it up from under something heavy and the angle of the pull ripped about 10 inches like a piece of paper. What did they charge to do your repairs. Ive been considering taking in to an upholstery shop but fearful of the wallet shock!

Thanks for posting the photo. I've always preferred a tonneau unless it's pouring rain, then I prefer a hotel!

I'll be fitting a new tonneau to my '62 Sprite when it rolls out of the shop next spring, and I really like the way yours is done. I'll be printing a copy of your photo and taking it to my upholstery shop.

I have been parking it at school and just covering the seats with a nice matching throw....(rolled eyes from the husband) After vacuming it out about a week ago he found a hickory nut in it that had fallen from the tree I park it by. He ordered me one he found on e-bay! It was about 1/2 the price of one from moss. If you keep and eye out they are around!
 
A nice tonneau will be one of the finishing touches for the Tunebug... but that's a lot of dollars in the future! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
 
When I had my tonneau repaired several yrs ago the price wasn't so high I even remember it, guessing 20-30 dollars. Across the back of my BE there are 5 holes about 1" off the back surround. I bet all BEs had them and they are covered with bondo, then painted. Look inside of yours and I would bet you see the holes. Attachments, standard stud for the lift dots.
 
I'm so glad my Midget came with one, it's pretty nice too - not all ratty & worn out.
 
I procured a Tonneau before I even thought about a Top.

Would not consider not haveing one.
