Tonneau cover question for BT7

The tonneau cover that came with my recently acquired BT7
has what to me appears to be an unusual extra snap that
fits around the windshield post to snap onto a chrome
snap that would be mounted on the top of the fender. I have
never seen this but could see how it would fit tighter than
the tonneau covers without it. It's a piece of the vinyl
about 4 inches long that simply wraps around the post.
Anyone ever see one like this ? I have no desire to drill
a hole in my fender to install a snap but just curious.
Also, the correct tonneau cover for a BT7 would have the
stiffener pieces, correct ? This one does not but otherwise
looks correct.
Thanks,
Mike

Never.

I would not drill a hole and fit another snap. My car came with stiffener bars.

Cheers

Mark

I purchased an after market tonneau back in 1982 that was exactly as you described. Each side had a little tounge that when around the side of each window post and although it did not have a snap installed, it was clear that was the intention. It also did not have pockets for the stiffeners. I never istalled the snaps so I can't comment on how effective they were. I will say the tonneau lasted until 2005 when I replaced it with a more correct unit from Moss. I prefer the look of the tonneau with the stiffeners and cross bar like the original.

Thanks for the replies y'all. Guess I know about how old
this tonneau might be but still in great shape. I agree
with drilling no holes into my fenders. I'll just continue to
use it until it gives up the ghost.
Thanks,
Mike
