Tonneau cover installation

I'm getting ready to install a new tonneau cover on my 1960 bugeye. Unfortunately, the cover came with a lot of parts but no instructions, so I'm left with a couple of questions.

First--the cover came with a pile of lift-the-dot fasteners and a few Tenax fasteners. The Victoria British catalog (where I got the top) seems to imply that the Tenax are used in the rear and the others in the front. Is this right, and, if so, is there any reason for that arrangement?

Second--I'd love to hear any hints you might have for installing the cover and getting it on right. In particular, I'm a little concerned about how much to stretch it in installation, since the weather is hot right now, and if it gets cooler, the cover might be too tight. I've done a search, and found a little info, but not very much.

Thanks in advance for your help.

mine fits rather loosely. I'd say it sags up to 2" in the middle when warm. I use my head rests as tensioners (don't think you have that option in the bugeye case.

As for the fastners, are there ones already pressed into the cover itself? that would dictate which fastners are used where on the body...if not, really up to you...

Guess the first question is do you have a short or long tonneau cover?
On the short cover (just goes to the rear of the cockpit) 'usually' uses all 'lift-a-dots' except for the two turnbuckles at the rear of the doors. Up front you would have one lift-a-dot at each corner just behind the winshield posts, two in the center of the upper dash st the rear view mirror. Some have another half way between the center and outside lift-a-dots. At the rear 5 lift-a-dots across the rear bulkhead the center one being centered and the rest equally spaced.

On a long tonneau, the front is as above, but the rear uses the two turnbuckles, the 4 tennax fasteners (same ones the top uses), and the two rear top chrome pieces.

Sorry, a few more details. It's the long cover. I have four points in the rear for Tenax fasteners; the pins are already installed. There are three holes in the dash for pins, but none installed. Two holes are at the left and right corners, and one is near the rear-view mirror on the passenger side. There are two turnbuckles, if that's what they're called, just behind each door.

No fasteners installed in the cover, as it came; I have to put in all of them.

Thanks for your help!

Steve
