Toneau stiffners

What are the toneau stiffners made of? I know moss sells them but seems like they would be nothing more than flexible wood or fiberglass like a sail batten. I have the turnbuckles and thought I would just make my own. Anybody have pics of originals or reproductions they could share.

The parts I am speaking of are for a BT7 4 seater. There are 5 sail batten like devices with turnbuckles.

I have the turnbuckles from OSH, they were only 1.90 a piece plus rivets at 3 bucks for 20 so I am into it 13$ so far. I also picked up some oak screen door trim but before cutting it up just thought I would check if this is originally aluminum or what.

I may make the bent tube as well but will need to physically have a sample part to get the bends correct.

The factory battons from my BT7 are of steel and appear to be cadnium plated (maybe galvanized?). They are formed from a flat piece of sheet metal of about 16 ga and are rolled from the edges into two tubular sections forming a section that is about 1/2", wide flat on the top, with the tubular parts on the bottom. The battons are then flattened on the ends where they rest in the cross support and cockpit.

Made some up from oak, rivets and turnbuckles. I'll try to post some pics. Now to the bent stiffner bar to complete the set.
