Tofu

I bought a block of the stuff today. What can one do with it to make it palatable? I know it is supposed to be healthy, but by itself, tastes like...tofu.

I love tofu, but generally when fried and topped with some sort of Chinese-food sauce. Defeats most of the health value, but it is tasty!

I've cut it into slices slightly less than 1/4", put some Worchestershire sauce on them and broil them on one side 'til they firm up nicely. Then add them to a stir fry.

Even THEY don't like it.
Here's "Step #4" of the instructions to give you a hint:
Offer the tofu attractively, with a high-pitched "Yummy, yum, yum." Eat a bite of it yourself first with a big, giant grin on your mug.

See the complete instructions if you want more.... :jester:
PS: Doc it may not work for what you have

cut it into strips, marinate it with two inch thick strip steaks. throw away the tofu, cook the steaks.

I take mine put it on the griddle take some bread silces butter both sides toast bread flip it throw on a slice of velveta processed cheese put the pieces of toast togather with the melted cheese oozing on a plate then throw the tofu in the garbage can YUM!

after accidently leaving it sit out for several months some of my uses for tofu have been, a 3720-4 diesel engine water pump gasket, new soles for my 1969 woodstock sandles, insulating blocks for high voltage electrical lines, shock obsorber buffers, windshield seal on a 1951 studebaker, permanent waste line plug, stop leak for a pungtured 5gal.gas can, mending several torn tarpaulines, patching numerous umbrella handles,oh the list goes on and on...but eating it?...i prefer snake skins!

Yoose Guys are no help at all. Here I am trying to eat healthy and I get nothing. Shirley you can come up with some ideas or recipes.

Reminds me of an old Cajun recipe for cooking Choupiquet (Bowfin) fish. Tack a cleaned Choupiquet to a pine board, season with Cajun seasoning, roast near an open fire till the fish is well cooked, take the fish off and throw it away and eat the pine board....

Like I said, look it up on the Internet. I eat the stuff a lot, both the wet and the drier type. The best for the novice is tempeh, an Indonesian cultured and fermented soy cake that is offered in different flavors. It makes the best soy burgers. --elrey

Bill, seen it in salads like croutons....only squisherier. Should soak up Italian dressing well. Just like a mushroom....just more mush. Use it in the place of mushrooms or spongues for doing the dishes. Can ya roast it lika marsh mellow?

I don't think deep frying and powdered sugar is the answer but who knows?

Next thing you know, someone will ask for advice about
preparing Quiche.

Bill, get the flavored tofu. One brand I like is "Tofurkey", tofu flavored to taste like turkey. Pretty good, really.

Not bad at all. :yesnod:
