I not Miss Agatha is orginal paint under wheel wells with an undercoating on top of that, then other paint.

Did Bugeyes come like that, should the wheel well be black undercoating? Ahh, come like that, with undercoating. You know I just can't remember how it was on my new one so long ago.

Best pic of an orginal I can come up with is on page 8 of the Original Sprite & Midget. Looks like it is black under there. Supose the whole underbody was like that?

Original Bugeyes had no undercoating, just paint. The first use of undercoating was with the Mk-II's. There a narrow swarth of undercoating was sprayed over the inside center of the front and rear wheel arches where gunk would be thrown by the tire. This undercoating was then sprayed over with paint in the body color. Bugeye wheel wells just had paint in the same color as the car.

OooK, thank you. That's what I will do then. All paint.

Jack, if you so desired, there is a clear undercoat you could spray over your new paint in the wheel wells to protect it from chipping.

Oh, neat, will look into that, thanks.
