How much turning can a break drum take? What is the max that the lip inside the drum should be? Does it have a lip on new ones? I think mine show about an eigth of an inch lip.

Maximum inside diameter is 7 1/16". There should be no "lip". If the "lip" is 1/8" then they are shot.

And that was what I was afraid of, sigh.

Guess that's to be expected when car is 48 years old.

Thought I had rememberd that when they got too big breaks could not be adjusted properly. At least they are available. Just one more thing for my list.

hey jack..get used to replacing or repairing any part
you look at.....seems like thats how it goes with LBCs..
but itll sure be satisfying driving around in a practically new classic car when your finished...not to mention the fairly cheap investment compared to a NEW car!...zimmy

Oh, not complaining you understand. When I am finished I will have a new Bugeye. Will last the rest of my life and beyond.
Not only do I have the statisfaction of doing it, but I saved a bugeye that someone can restore easly in 20 years or so if it needs it.
And I get to drive it, look at it in the garage, and think about it when it is raining or cold. hehe. It's mine forever.
Oh, found a peice of foam just right for the bottom of the heater box blowing down the street this morning while walking the dog. Strange how these things turn out. Closed cell and about 3/8 thick and a foot square. Maybe I'll make a spair or two to share.

LBC parts just lyin' about on the streets of Niceville??

...I gotta move!

Yeah, Doc, they leave 'em like a trail of bread crumbs, so they can find their way back home. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
