Went to go and check if the oil leak at the axle gave up (it did! Yay!), and proceeded to put the new brakes in all around. First surprise was apparently I put the leading brake pad on the left side in upside down at some point (doh...), and when I put the right side on, noticed that the left side pads were indeed pretty well glazed from the oil they soaked up. Oh well. Just might explain why it pulled to the right when stopping and the left drum never got as warm as the right side. Got the front pads in, and I wasn't remembering wrong, it was missing an anti-squeal shim on each side /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif.
Got the world back together, went on a test drive, and boy do new brakes make a difference! Even though the rears were a little loose it seemed to stop quicker. Better still, no more SCREEEEEE when stopping. The other nice discovery was the mystery coolant leak seems to have gone away since I tightened up the hose clamps /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif. No more eau de Prestone flambe coming off the exhaust manifold. Ahhh, Thursday's supposed to get up to 78 and sunny! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif
