To pull or not to pull

So here is the deal. When I first dropped in the motor I had a small leak coming from the speedo cable. It lasted for awhile until I could figure just what in the heck was going on. I fixed the leak with a rubber grommet, drained the tranny oil and replaced the oil. I believe that I "overfilled" the oil and now I know that all was not out to begin with because I don't think one can actually drain all of the oil without tilting the tranny up and draining out the output shaft. ??? Dunno. The transmission never leaked other than out the speedo. Once I fixed the speedo issue and filled her up I took her for a drive and when I got home had oil all over the place. It came from the drain hole under the clutch. The motor oil level has never changed. I have to replace the header gasket and motor mounts so the pull is not that big of a deal. The only issue that I really have is that I have to remove the freshly painted bonnet. What do you think?

Guess it must be time, but just tell me how you could overfill the tranny as when it is full the oil comes out of the filler hole. It is impossable to overfill.

Again I assume you use the filler hole, easy to get to and easy to fill with one of those cheep pumps that fits on a quart of oil. No mess at all, a 15 min job.

I am filling into the hole that is above the speedo hook-up. Get to it through the inspection/access cover on the right side of the tranny tunnel.

No way you can overfill useing that filler.
